SINGLE, TIED BY FOUR STRIKES OF BLUE "5" DOUBLE CIRCLE CANCEL ON 1848 FOLDED COVER "TO THE MASTER OF THE POST OFFICE NEW YORK" WITH BLUE "PHILADELPHIA PA. 6 OCT." PMK.
AND WE ARE OF THE OPINION THAT
IT IS A GENUINE USAGE, THE STAMP WITH A SMALL DIAGONAL CREASE AT BOTTOM RIGHT
Lot 79 Sc Red Brown (1). Margins all around, tied by Blue Double Ring "5", struck 4 times, another clear strike on cover, matching "Philadelphia, Pa." pmk. on neat folded Oct., 1848 cover, Fine (Photo) 125.00

Note that the 6 is centered over the C in OCT. The “1” before the 6 I believe is extra ink picked up by the misfitting edge of the slug in the cancelling device and that this cover was mailed on Oct 6th (not Oct 16), 1848.
