The 1850 edition of McElroy’s Philadelphia City Directory lists Jordan & Brother as grocers at 121 N 3rd Street. Also listed at the same address is Francis Jordon.
The firm changed names several times after it was founded by John Jordan and Fredrick Boller in 1793. It became Jordan & Brother in 1842 under John Jordan Jr. and Francis Jordan until 1854 when John Jr left the firm and Thomas J. Woolf, Francis’s brother in law, became a partner, although the firm’s name did not change.
