Alexander lists two covers from Troy on this date, a cover listed as 5/14/50 to Miss Catharine McKie in South Easton and a 5/14/xx cover to George B. Foust in New York City. The Catharine McKie listing, according to Alexander’s notes, is a fabrication supposed by Creighton Hart and is not supported by letters from Francis Thayer to Catharine McKie in the possession of John Mudge, the author of The Family Letters. In other words, a 5/14/50 cover to Catharine McKie does not exist.
Therefore, this partial image only fits the 5/14/xx listing to New York.
