Elias Black Burton (1816-1892) grew up in Manchester Vt., went to Middlebury College and , after graduating, studied law in the office of Allen & Blair in Salem NY. He was admitted to the Bar in 1842 and returned to Manchester, when he formed a partnership with Ahiman. Louis Miner (1804-1886) until 1851 when he was elected to the state legislature. Mr. Miner also served in the Vermont state legislature and also the US House of representatives (1851-53)
