#2. tied by red grid with matching NYC CDS. Also with "via Morristown, NY";routing instruction, ;their April 30 CDS, and their matching exchange office handstamp. Also with a Brockville receiving handstamp. This is the only reported 1847 cover with the rather unique Morristown exchange office marking (note the shading lines in the fleurons) and it may be the earliest reported usage of this marking on any cover -- the ASCC lists the date of usage as 1853 and it's unlisted in Simpson-Alexander. In any event, this cover went via open mail to Morristown and thence to Brockville. It is unrecorded in Alexander.
