EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING PAIR OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ON A DOUBLE-RATE COVER TO NEW ORLEANS.
The pair on this letter paid the postage for distance over 300 miles and weight over one-half ounce. Examples of 10c 1847 pairs on cover are more typically found used from Boston to New York (Ludlow Beebe correspondence). This southbound usage to New Orleans is extremely scarce.
