James Blanding (1781-1870) married Elizabeth Carpenter of Rehoboth in 1811. They had eight children, including Nancy Augusta (1816-1887). In 1840 she was a teacher at “Foster House” school in Philadelphia and then moved to Springfield, Ohio to teach. In 1847, she returned to Massachusetts to live with her family and became the primary caregiver to her ailing uncle. On 25 September 1856, Nancy married John G. Nattinger and moved with him to Ottawa, Illinois.
