Notes
Lot 30 5c Orange Brown (1b), four margins, handsome deep color from the first printing, attached by wax wafer and tied by red square grid on white envelope to New Hampshire with matching old style New-York 5 cts. 5 Jul cds, reverse with twice struck Bunker's / Madison House / Broadway / New York double line oval; stamp faulty, Fine appearance. Although undated, in our opinion this could possibly be a July 1847 usage, based on the shade of the stamp, style of postmark, and unworn state of the gridiron. If further research can definitely establish this as in 1847 use, this cover would become the earliest known use of the 5c stamp
