1847 5c red brown Franklin (Scott #1) single nicely tied by a red square grid cancel on 1851 dated cover sent from New York City to attorney James Dexter at the "office corner of North Pearl and State Street" in Albany, New York. Matching red February 8, New York circular date stamp cancel at right. The stamp exhibits a distinct sharp color and a wide margin at right. A fine and newly discovered piece of 1847 Issue postal history.
