Alexander listed as 5/8/50 to Master Frank Jandon
Cover is docketed at right May 8th, 1850.
CDS is hard to read as it is double stamped with an image shifted higher. The date is definitely 8 but the month appears to start with a J.
Docketed at left M P Jandon.
Letter addressed to Master Frank Jandon.
There are no listing of Jandon in the 1849 edition of Doggett’s NYC directory. There are several listings for Jaudon.
There is a record of Frank Jaudon marrying Elizabeth McDonald, daughter of Oliver Strong on Oct 29, 1857 in NYC.
Samuel Jaudon (1796-1874) was a banker at 54 Wall Street in NYC. He was married to Marguerite Peyton Alricks (1799-1880) and they had six children including Francis Duncan Jaudon (1833-1906).
Francis was married to Elizabeth McDonald Strong and was an episcopal clergyman. Frances was rector of St. Andrew's Parish, Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa.
Thus, the letter was sent to aster Frank Jaudon in Sing Sing, NY and was written by his mother.
