Horiz strip of four, margins all around except L stamp, barely clear at top, rich color, fine impression, tied by red square grids matching New York pmk. on Oct. 1849 folded letter to Oregon, Ill. One has small nick in corner, couple of creases and light wrinkles. Very fine appearance. Choice & handsome. Est XIII

Horizontal strip of four, large margins to just in at top of second stamp where slightly nicked, bright color, tied by red square grid cancels, matching New-York Oct. 9 circular datestamp on 1849 folded letter to Oregon Ill., each stamp with crease or tear including one affected by vertical file fold.
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE INTACT STRIP OF FOUR OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE USED TO PAY THE DOUBLE 10-CENT OVER-300 MILES RATE FOR A LETTER WEIGHING BETWEEN ONE-HALF AND ONE OUNCE.
