Doggett’s 1848 NYC directory lists Bleecker and Oothout as importers and dealers in iron and steel located on Cliff Street. The principal owners were Garret N Bleecker and William Oothout (1823-1899). Garret served as Comptroller of the City of New York (1808-1813, 1816-1831)
Rufus Waterman (1817-1896) was a director and treasurer of the Providence Tool Co up until 1853.
