1847 Used to Canada: 5c grey brown, margins all round, frame-line touched at left, fine. tied by faint m.o. on 1848 folded letter sheet bearing light red LOCKPORT FEB 9 c.d.s., red on reverse. The second oldest Lockport cover known QUEENSTON transit, ms. "4 1/2" and red CHIPPAWA red receiver on reverse. The second oldest Lockport cover known Est. Cash Value $250. (1)

CDS. The Lockport marking is dated Feb 17. This does not agree with the CDS on the reverse (2/9/48) nor the Queenston marking (2/12/48). Strange. Perhaps this cover was returned to its sender and the CDS on the front is a record of the return date.
