1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), ample to large margins, distinct blackish brown shade, tied by pen cancel, manuscript "Champlain 1" Decr 1849" on 1849 folded letter to Keesville, NY, vertical filing crease crosses stamp which also has small tear at bottom right, otherwise Very Fine and a rarity among the small town usages.
