Description: Non-contract Hudson River Steam Boat. Red two line STEAM/BOAT faint marking. Montreal transit mark on front, Quebec receiving mark on back. ¨11 1/2 d. due for Canadian 201 to 300 miles.¨Letter date-lined New York most likely stamped in New York and given to the captain of the boat who delivered it to the post office in Albany where the stamps were canceled with the black grid.
