Margaretta Hare Morris (1791-1867), one of the three Morris sisters of Germantown, was a recognized botanist, credited with discovering the 17 year cicada. She became a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, which published her work. Margaretta was a descendent of Robert Morris, financier and originator of the first Bank of the United States.
