Rev Frederick Newman Knapp (1821-1889) moved to Brookline, Mass in 1848 and served as pastor in the Unitarian Church (1847-55) alongside Dr. John Pierce. During the Civil War he served on the Sanitary Commission and was a chaplain for solders. Later he moved to Plymouth Mass and spent 5 years as a pastor and 10 years as the Chairman of the Board of Education for the town.
