Lot 520 5c Red Brown (1). Two, full margins to just in, pen cancels and tied by partly clear strikes of blue Portsmouth N.H. circular datestamp on cover to Miss E. Keeler at 303 W. 21st street address in New York City, with "Pr City Despatch Post" manuscript notation at lower left, both stamps with light creases, some cover corner wear, otherwise Very Fine and rare, in a Feb. 2005 article, Gordon Stimmell notes that eight covers were discovered used mostly from Portsmouth with "Care of", "Per" or "Via" the City Despatch Post (a local post at this time under the direction of Mead or Cole), these are the only recorded 1847 Issue covers which are directed to go thru a local post
