1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott No. 1). Large margins, marvelous deep vivid color, tied by a fancy blue rimless grid with three criss-cross lines at right and matching "Taunton Ms. Dec. 23 5 cts" c.d.s., on 1850 folded letter to New Bedford, choice Very Fine, a striking cancel and a remarkable shade which Ashbrook assigned as dark russet according to Ridgeway, but notes that Chase called it Ridgeway's dark Pecan Brown. Estimate $2,000-3,000
