George S. Robbins (1794-1865) is listed as a broker at 52 Wall Street in 1848 Doggett’s NYC directory. One online reference lists the banking firm of George S. Robbins & Son as forming in 1850 but Siegel sale 973, lot 282, lists a cover with a copy of 25L1 addressed to Wm H. Newbold in Philadelphia and docketed as mailed by George S Robbins & Son on Nov 11, 1849. The 1854 NYC directory lists the firm at the same 52 Wall Street address, along with both a George S and a George A. Robbins at the same location. George A. Robbins also married Susan A. Morris in 1860.
