Notes
This is a Folded Letter, with a blue Lee, Maas. postmark dated August 16, 1849. The Stamp is a 3+ margin Scott Catalogue #1, with a stamped numeral "5" cancellation. The letter inside is dated on the 15th and this was addressed to South Lee. Please note the 2nd scan provides detail of the Stamp and cancellation and the 3rd scan provides the Philatelic Foundation Certificate #77 964, dated Sept. 14, 1979. The P.F. opinion: "...the stamp, a brown shade, is genuinely used on this folded letter". The Letter and the Stamp are in fine condition, with file folds to the Letter Sheet, without damage.
