VF - Attractive appearing but dubious bisect of the 10c 1847 Washington. Red grid cancellation seems to tie the half stamp onto 1849 folded letter to Kensington, NH by red 'Fitchburg, Mass' cds. The cover, cancel, and contents are genuine. I just do not believe that this stamp originated on this folded letter. If genuine, the Scott catalog value would be - $13,000.00. Impressive 'looking' example of this rarely encountered usage. Nice for a reference or any specialized collection.

PF 8312 #2a, not genuine use of bisect
Letter to Elizabeth Otis Osgood (1812-1867), daughter of Dr. Joseph Otis Osgood (1782-1845) and Elisabeth Thompson (Fogg) Osgood (1782-1869). She was the sister of Rev. Joseph Osgood and Rev George Osgood. She never married.
