Horatio Blinn Bowman (1809-1889) and Johnson were merchants in Alton Illinois. Bowman migrated from Wilkes Barre in 1837 and opened a dry goods business with M. A. Neff in April 1839. He later formed a partnership with Mr. Johnson and they opened a store on the north side of Third Street.
