The CDS marking is somewhat faint, particularly the month. I pushed the sharpness and color saturation. The date looks more like SEP 4 than APR 4, even with the slight doubling and shift in the impressions but the certainty is very low.
James Kerrigan & Son are listed in the 1848 edition of Doggett’s at No 1 Ferry Street as a ‘morocco’, makers of a fine, pebble-grained leather, originally made in Morocco from goatskin tanned with sumac.
