| Notes | 3 cent black on blue green glazed paper CDS APR 1, 4 o'clock Cover submitted courtesy of Bill Sammis who adds that there is a pencil notation on the back “m J G Pearson 56 ½ Merchant’s Exchange” Mr Mayota not listed in 1843, 1845 or 1846 editions of Doggett's. The 1845 edition of Doggett’s lists an I. Green Pearson at this address. Further, an Isaac Green Pearson was a Trustee of the Mutual Life Insurance Company in NYC in 1845-46. Mr. Pearson was a builder / architect. Not listed in the Calvet M. Hahn census in The Penny Post (This may be the Kapiloff cover as the stamp does have a corner crease at the lower right.) |
