Siegel sale 745 lot 222 realized 6500 notes that the letter contents is an invitation on behalf of a lady to a gentleman to meet her in the evening. Daniel F. Kelleher sale 779 lot 1163 realized 5250 Illustrated as Figure 24 in Scott Trepel's Commentary of The Dr. Leonard A. Kapiloff Collection (Part 3, The Penny Post, Vol. 2 No.3 Aug 1992, p19 Number 15 in the Larry Lyons 6LB1 Census. (The Penny Post, Vol 12, Number 4, October 2004, p31) Letter to George Hendric Houghton (1820-1897), an American Protestant Episcopal clergyman. Born in Deerfield, Mass, and graduated from New York University in 1842 and from the General Theological Seminary in 1845. In 1848 he organized, and until his death was rector of, the Church of the Transfiguration, better known as the "Little Church around the Corner," in New York City. Based on the address on the letter, George was still in NYU housing when this letter was written. |
