It Is A Genuine Usage
Lot 326 Baltimore / Md. blue cds & h/s PAID on 1845 FL to Hagerstown with a lovely strike of a large red boxed PAID a choice extremely fine example of this scarce marking, at one time believed to be a Baltimore postmaster’s provisional, 1994 PF certificate.
Matthew Bennett International sale 192
Despite the PF opinion and the Matthew Bennett sale dating, this cover could not have been mailed in Jan 1845. The 5c postal rate was not in effect until July 1, 1845.
