9X1 on Jan 3 or 5, 1846 cover to Boston. The digit has both a complete vertical bar on the left (5) and a diagonal bar on the right (3). Jan 3 is more likely.
Letter written by James Brown on Jan 3, 1846. There are 26 listings for James Brown in the 1846 edition of Doggett’s. If the word “boiler” has any significance, there is a James K Brown listed as a dealer in stoves at 117 Beekman Street.
The 1848 edition of the Boston city directory has two listings for George M. Dexter, an architect at 11 ½ Tremont row and a dealer in furniture wagon at 224 Washington.
