(Scott 9X1b), four-margined example, fresh and clean, on folded letter sheet datelined Oct. 21, 1845 and addressed to New Haven, Conn.; stamp tied by blue manuscript cancel, with proper red arced "PAID" and matching New York "PAID 5 cts" rate-integral postmark at right; stamp with clipped lower right corner, paper with partial tear along one interior fold, still nearly Very Fine and remarkably clean for its age, with 2025 Crowe certificate.

It is a genuine stamp, genuinely used on an Oct 21, 1845 folded letter addressed to New Haven, Connecticut. The stamp tied by a blue manuscript cancellation and the folded letter with the proper red arced PAID and matching New York town marking with integral PAID 5cts.
