Henry Mills, Silas Butler, Asa Barker and Ebenezer Smith operated a small woolen mill in Williamstown, Mass. There is some indication from the business papers that Mr Smith replaced Mr Barker at some point. The addressees of this letter support that conjecture. The partnership dissolved sometime in 1845 so this cover may predate the NY provisional stamp.
