Lot 242 Baltimore Md. Postmasters' Provisional 1845 5c Black on white (Sc. 3X1). Stamp almost complete frame lines and is well tied to folded cover by blue 5 in oval. Cover is dated March 17, 1847 and cancelled March 27 which according to Luff is the last known date of use. Also cancelled PAID and addressed to New York. File creases at right through stamp. A lovely example of this rare cover. ECV 3,500
