Baltimore Md., 5c Black (3X1). Position 3, ample to large margins with two full framelines, bottom right corner slightly clipped, without usual pen cancellation, tied by "Baltimore Md. Feb. 16" circular datestamp and also tied by "5" in circle and two strikes of "Paid" handstamp on 1847 folded letter to New York, additional strike of "Paid" handstamp at left, light vertical file fold thru stamp has been skillfully pressed
EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A REMARKABLE USAGE WITH THE 5-CENT BALTIMORE PROVISIONAL TIED BY THE TOWN DATESTAMP, RATE MARKING AND "PAID" HANDSTAMP.
This is the only recorded Baltimore provisional cover with the stamp tied by three different markings. It is especially desirable with al three markings struck in blue.
