Rogers Jr., Washington, D. C., neat pencil receipt docketing, blue manuscript checkmark, small ink spot, extremely fine.

Letter addressed to Delia Maria (Black) Rogers (1822-1891), second wife of Gilbert Rogers, Jr (1813-1882) and daughter of Furman Black Jr of Philadelphia and Sally Ann Rogers (1806-1899). Sally Ann was the sister of Gilbert Jr. Delia and Gilbert were married on Oct 66, 1845. (see dates of covers to Miss Delia Black and Mrs. Rogers). The Rogers lived in Baltimore so these letters were probably written by Gilbert to his wife while she visited her parents in Washington, DC.
