Lot 1248 Annapolis Md., (2c) Blue Handstamp (2XU1 var). Clear strike on folded letter with ms. "Drop 2" addressed locally to Alexander Randall, light vertical file folds
VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL CLEAR STRIKE OF THE ANNAPOLIS POSTMASTER'S SEAL, WHICH WAS USED TO MAKE THE FAMOUS POSTMASTER PROVISIONAL ENVELOPES AND ALSO RARELY APPLIED AS A POSTMARK.
Ex Kapiloff. The Scott footnote to 2XU1 values the blue circle at $3,000.00 with "2" handstamped rate and at $3,000.00 with "5" handstamped rate, but does not list this "Drop 2" manuscript rate.
