This Census of the Dollar value stamps of Columbian Issue on cover is based on the pioneering work by Dr. Richard M. Searing, who published as series of articles in the USPCS Chronicle in August and November of 1992. Without this pioneering work, the present census would not exist. The covers for this census will be entered into the existing database as time permits. The images have been collected from a number of on-line sources and auction catalogs, and there are still a number of entries for which only a black/white photocopy is available, and a few for which no illustration is known. If you can provide an improved scan of any of these covers, please let me know.

| Notes | Columbian Issue Collateral Items. A specially printed Postage Stamp Agency Invoice, for the shipment of $160 in Columbian Issue stamps. This invoice No. 249 accompanied a shipment of these stamps to the Post Office at Graham, NC. This Invoice was issued under the authority of Wesley R. Davis, Stamp Agent, who assumed this office July 24, 1893, replacing Thomas A. H. Hay. For an example of a similar invoice from Hay's period in office, see Census ID 999, Set ID C3. While no detailed list of the enclosed stamps was present, this could easily included 10 copies of each of the Dollar Value stamps (for a total of $150) plus a larger quantity of each of the lower denominations.
