A Boston merchant, Samuel Goddard (1787-1871) had a daughter Eleanor Swan Goddard (1829-1853). Samuel married Mehetable May Dawes (born 1796 in Boston), who was the daughter of William Dawes Jr. (the famous Revolutionary War midnight rider who rode alongside Paul Revere).
