Lot 7001 1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott 1), on blue folded letter sheet from New York to Boston, a beautifully centered and intensely colored four-margined example, tied by red diamond grid cancel with "New-York/Feb/8" postmark alongside; manuscript "Paid" at lower left, docketed on reverse 1850; stamp with corner creases at bottom, but still a striking item, Fine to Very Fine, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate.
