Notes
Five Cent Benjamin Franklin affixed on original envelope* with letter enclosed. Hand cancellation on stamp as well as bullet cancellation on envelope. Stamp is very clean and centered.
Chauncy Brooks, on the letterhead was also the president of B&O Railroad as well as being president of the Western Bank of Baltimore.
*The envelope is a formed envelope out of paper, as was customary prior to envelopes.

Two pieces of paper, folded into a makeshift envelope, first piece containing a letter. Heading: Chauncy Brooks, President, James H. Carter, Cashier [Left Side] Western Bank of Baltimore, April 11 (in script) 1849 (nine being in script) Elie Beatty:

Possible fake. Stamp not tied. Manuscript cancels from Baltimore are not typical in 1849.
