In 1850, Bush & Lobdell was a prominent manufacturer of chilled railroad car wheels, tyres, and railroad machine works based in Wilmington, Delaware. The company was the predecessor to the Lobdell Car Wheel Company. When incorporated in 1867 as the Lobdell Car Wheel Company, the firm was the world’s largest railroad wheel manufacturer and had 300 full-time employees.
The principal owners were George Granville Lobdell (1817-1894) and Charles Bush (1805-1855).
