Stamp is not tied to this folded letter and appears to have a square red grid cancel, similar to that used frequently on letters from New York City. Thomas Alexander lists no stamped covers from Wabash, Indiana. The Wabash post office received no 1847 stamps.
Buena Vista, Ohio is in Green Township, Fayette County Ohio, located about 70 miles south-west of Columbus. Holmes County is located about 70 miles northeast of Columbus and has no town named Buena Vista. There are locations in Holmes County named Buena Vista including (1) a private Elementary School named Buena Vista in Millersburg Ohio in Holmes County, (2) a Buena Vista street in the town of Baltic, and (3) a flour mill named Buena Vista Mills in Barnhill, now Baltic, that dates to 1881 but no indication that they were named after a local community.
