Lot 2242 1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott 1), fresh single on datelined Nov. 18, 1847 folded letter sheet from Boston to Athens, ME; stamp tied by red circular grid and "Boston/18/Nov/5 Charlotte Town" postmark, with matching straightline "PAID" handstamp at left, similarly noted in manuscript at lower left; stamp with three ample to large margins and tiny corner crease at bottom right; cover sound and fresh, Fine to Very Fine, a pretty first-year use.
