Letter to Merritt W. Seely (1813-1889), an American lawyer, Republican politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing Green Lake and Marquette counties during the 1859 and 1860 sessions. His name was often abbreviated M. W. Seely, and his last name was sometimes spelled Seeley. He formed a partnership with Alphanso Albert Cole in 1845.
