Large margins to clear including part of adjoining stamp at top, worn-plate impression, cancelled by manuscript "X", matching "James River Oct. 13" manuscript postmark on folded letter datelined "Norfolk Oct. the 11th 1848" to Williamsburg Va., Very Fine, rare, this is the only example of the 1847 Issue with the James River waterway marking (steamboat route from Norfolk to Richmond)
