I disagree with the dating of this cover. While the CDS on the right appears to read JAN 6, there is a problem with this interpretation. First, the 6 is shifted to the right, below the space between the A and N. Second, there is a faint vertical line below the space between the J and A. Finally, there are two more strikes of the CDS on the stamp at the left. The leftmost strike clearly shows a vertical 1 crossing the circular outline of the rightmost strike around 8 o’clock. The real date of this cover is JAN 16, 1849.
