Lot 2214 10c Black (2). Two covers, first Short Transfer at Top variety, ample margins to just in at bottom, tied by multiple pen strokes and black "New Orleans La. Jul. 8" (1849) circular datestamp on blue folded letter to New York, Very Fine, accompanied by a second folded letter from New Orleans to New York, 10c Black (2) tied by circular grid cancels and dated Jun. 29, 1848, stamp heavily creased by file folds and cover slightly reduced, otherwise Fine, neither of these are listed in the U.S. Classics Society census, Scott assigns a premium of $350.00 for black cancels on No. 2 (total Scott Retail for the two stamps off cover $2,525.00)
