U.S. Scott 2 on cover: A rare large 4-margin stamp on cover. Margins of the stamp are truly VF-XF, only becoming a little closer in the upper right. Cover has a great strike of a New York town cancel (3/22/1848). Stamp is an early usage, less than a year after first documented use. Short, affectionate and legible letter from husband, John Boyd in NYC to wife, Virginia E. Boyd, in Petersburg, VA.
