Scott #1, 1 ½ stamps, tied by red grid circular cancel on MAY 23 cover from the US Express NY railroad to Bath, Maine. Note with cover says it was bought from a Herb LaTushie sale on June 4, 1997 and listed as a trisect cover paying the express mail rate.

PF 602928 IT IS A GENUINE USE, THE BOTTOM STAMP TRIMMED IN HALF AFTER USE.
[Yes, there is evidence of a cancel on the removed portion of the stamp at the upper edge of the cover. This cover clearly had two stamps when mailed.]
Brothers, Charles (1797-1877) and William Donnell Crooker (1805-1868), were shipbuilders in Bath, Maine.
