PSE 01422122 (2/6/2023) - it is genuine used, tied on folded letter date 12 October, 1850 to Philadelphia by a New York red grid cancel, the folded letter with file folds and a matching red New York cds dated Oct. 12. (front image)
Letter addressed to Jno. W. Rulon & Son. The 1850 edition of McElroy’s lists John W. Rulon as a merchant at 28 South Wharf.
William W. DeForest is listed as a commission merchant at 82 South Street in NYC (1849 Doggett’s).
