Roger Sherman Jr. (1768-1856) was a shipping merchant at 14 Union Wharf (1842 New Haven Directory). He received a B.A. and an M.A. degree from Yale, studied law, and served briefly as a representative in the Connecticut General Assembly. However, his primary interest was in business, and he was the owner with his uncle, Benjamin Prescott, of Prescott & Sherman on Long Wharf in New Haven. They owned ships and dealt in real estate.
