Letter dateline Boston Mass, March 28. 1851 seeking information about a Revolutionary War soldier named Aaron Hinsman who enlisted near Guilford or New Haven.
Letter written by Horatio Woodman in Boston. The Controller wrote back in May of 1851 that no information was found (according to the docket on the back). To pay for the search, Woodman enclosed $1, which no long accompanies the letter.
Horatio Woodman is listed as a counsellor at 26 Railroad Exchange in Boston (1850 city directory)
Aaron Hinsman (sometimes spelled Hinman) died in Guilford around Dec, 1794. He was a shoemaker. Aaron’s first wife was Salle (1765-June 9, 1789). Records show his second waife was Elizabeth Cockard (m Feb 18, 1790 in Guilford, Conn.)
